Description: Parque Nacional Santa Rosa has great historic value. It is where a decisive battle against the invading Filibusters was fought in 1856. The Filibusters were defeated near La Casona, (Hacienda Santa Rosa). The historic building was burned to the ground in 2001. It has been completely restored to its original state thanks to the generous contributions of citizens, organizations and school children who donated lunch money for the restoration. In addition to the historic value of the park, it has the largest stand of dry tropical forest in Central America, fine beaches and abundant wildlife. Services include a historic center, natural trails, guides and camping areas.
