Parque Nacional Arenal

Description: This park centers around two volcanoes: Volcán Arenal (1,633 m, 5,389 feet), a conical volcano that emerged about 1,000 years ago and Volcán Chato (1,100 m, 3,630 feet). Volcán Arenal is active and Volcán Chato has a lagoon within its collapsed crater. Parque Nacional Arenal is one of sixteen protected reserves that make up the Arenal Conservation Area. These protected areas span eight of Costa Rica's twelve life zones.
