Description: This park is the home of Central America's height peak, Cerro Chirripó 3819 meters, (12,602 feet). The peak is part of the non volcanic Cordillera de Talamanca. There are accommodations near the peak for hikers. The lake near the peak was carved out by glaciers during the last ice age. The park is home for endangered wildlife such as tapirs and jaguars. Birding is excellent as the park ascends through three different life zones.
